Ellen is an economist working on the Landfill Methane Outreach Program EPA. LMOP is a voluntary program that works cooperatively with industry stakeholders and waste officials to reduce or avoid methane emissions from landfills. LMOP encourages the recovery and beneficial use of biogas generated from organic municipal solid waste. She recently came to LMOP from the Sustainable Management of Food program at EPA where she worked to improve measurement and analysis of food loss and waste, promoting the US goal of reducing food loss and waste 50% by 2030. Before that, Ellen managed membership for City Parks Alliance and worked for the Mayor’s Office in Baltimore as an AmeriCorps VISTA doing greening projects on vacant lots, helping to create and maintain community green spaces. Ellen holds a bachelor’s degree in Applied Economics and Management from Cornell University and a master’s degree in Environmental Policy from George Washington University.
