Dr. Rosenbaum was raised in NC, completing high school at Fork Union Military Academy in Virginia. After receiving a BS in Industrial Psychology at George Mason University he attended the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond obtaining an MD under the Navy Health Professional Scholarship Program. He performed a Surgical internship at Portsmouth Naval Hospital and was immediately assigned to USS Kearsarge (LHD-3) as the Senior Medical Officer. During his second tour, as a Squadron Medical Officer with the George Washington Battlegroup, he was selected for the Navy's Neurosurgical residency training program at Bethesda Naval Hospital. His first duty station after training was USNS Okinawa, Japan, where he wrote the Navy's first clinical practice guideline for back pain care. He was returned Bethesda Naval Hospital in 2004 where he completed his 20 year career with the Navy having engaged in deployments for Hurricane Katrina, Landstuhl, Germany and Kandahar, Afghanistan. He became certified in Medical Acupuncture in 2009. Although retired from the Navy in 2013, he remains a staff neurosurgeon as a Red Cross Volunteer, his focus is unchanged with an emphasis on advanced technologies such as stem cell use and endoscopic spinal surgery with the center piece being a collaborative, multimodal approach of team care for the patients with spinal disease and complaints.
