Kristi J. Boswell serves as a Policy Advisor in the Office of American Innovation in the Executive Office of the President. Previously, she was appointed as Senior Advisor to Secretary Sonny Perdue at the United States Department of Agriculture in May 2017. In her roles, she advises on matters related to immigration and H-2A visa reform, rural workforce development, and intramural and extramural food and agricultural research matters including sustainability, climate, and plant protection products. She engages in wide-ranging interactions with all levels of USDA management and program leadership, stakeholders in the food and agricultural community conveying the positions of the Administration and Secretary. Prior to joining the Administration, Kristi served as Director of Congressional Relations at the American Farm Bureau Federation beginning in 2012. She advocated Farm Bureau’s labor, immigration, food safety, and farm safety policy positions to Congress and Federal agencies. From 2009 through 2012, Kristi practiced corporate defense litigation at Stinson Morrison Hacker LLP in Omaha, Nebraska, where she defended clients in general corporate litigation matters including workers compensation, creditor rights, and employment discrimination claims. Kristi worked as an aide to former Nebraska State Sen. Pamela Redfield in the Nebraska Unicameral Legislature. She began her career in agriculture as the Ag Youth Coordinator at the Nebraska Department of Agriculture. Kristi is licensed to practice law in Nebraska and Iowa (Inactive) and received her Juris Doctor with Distinction from the University of Nebraska College of Law in 2009 and Bachelor of Agricultural Sciences from the University of Nebraska in 2004.
