Mike McKim is the founder and CEO of Cuvée Coffee, pioneer of Nitro Cold Brew and credited for trailblazing specialty coffee in Texas. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, McKim is just an average, coffee-loving guy with tenacious ingenuity. He first learned the craft and science of roasting coffee, in 1998, during a trip to visit his uncle in Reno, Nevada. After experimenting with his own roasting style, McKim launched Cuvée Coffee, a roastery sourcing super premium coffees from across the globe, ensuring higher quality coffee and access. McKim’s approach to business over the years has fostered industry changing trends. In 2011, he started experimenting with nitrogen and working with craft beer brewers to introduce Nitro Cold Brew in a keg. He then invented the first Nitro Cold Brew in a can in 2014, now distributed nationwide along with Cuvée’s whole bean and ground coffee. The move brought McKim’s business to a new level. After 21 years, and with the help of his wife, Rashelle, the Cuvée brand is recognized as one of the most approachable and innovative craft coffee companies on the market. As a U.S. Navy Veteran and entrepreneur, McKim uses his travels and experience building Cuvée to inspire others through speaking engagements, TV appearances and partnerships. He’s worked closely with the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA), serving multiple terms on the Roasters Guild Executive Council. He’s also competed in and hosted the South Central Regional Barista Competition, judged both regional and national competitions and partnered with Dell Small Business as a brand ambassador. McKim is also the board chairman of OSD, impacting the lives of over one million veterans, active military and family members through award-winning programs emphasizing social connectivity, professional development and community stewardship.
