Thamizhisai Periyaswamy is an Associate Professor in the Department of Fashion, Interior Design, and Merchandising at Central Michigan University. She has a doctoral degree in the field of Textile Engineering & Sciences from the Philadelphia University. Over the last decade, she has been studying material characterization using non-contact ultrasound techniques, and was developing textile-based interfaces for human electrophysiological signals applied for wearable systems.She has also been investigating neurophysiological signal properties associated with tactile perception of flexible and textured materials. She is an active member of several professional organizations including the Fiber Society and IEEE.
