Arthur de O. Lima, M.Sc., is a Research Engineer in the Rail Transportation and Engineering Center (RailTEC) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (Illinois) where he helps manage rail infrastructure research. Mr. Lima obtained his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the Federal University of Viçosa in Brazil with a portion of his studies conducted at the University of Waterloo in Canada. He obtained his M.Sc. degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign focusing on rail infrastructure research. Mr. Lima serves are the current secretary of AREMA Committee 30 – Ties and Fasteners and is an active member of the APTA Track/Noise and Vibration Technical Forum and his research interests involve all aspects of rail civil infrastructure, from either the materials, components, or structures perspective
