Garo Mardirossian is the founder of a law firm in West Los Angeles that specializes in tort cases involving catastrophic injuries. In January 2010, Mr. Mardirossian was installed as President of CAALA. In 2000, he was voted CAALA’s Trial Lawyer of the Year. Mr. Mardirossian cemented his reputation as a prominent plaintiff’s attorney by obtaining many landmark jury verdicts on behalf of his clients in civil rights, product liability, premises liability, and personal injury negligence cases. In Dole v. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, a police brutality case, he obtained a judgment of $24.8 million, the largest judgment in history against the Los Angeles County Sherriff’s Department. In Pannu v. Land Rover, a product liability rollover case, he won a judgment of $25.3 million. In McCardle v. Greyhound Motor Lines, Inc., bus accident case, he obtained a jury verdict in the amount of $15.9 million for his injured client. After two trials, in Saakyan v. Modern Auto, a faulty rim case, he obtained a judgment of $26.9 million. In Gozukara v. Ford Motor Company, et al., a product liability case, he won a jury verdict and settlement of $14.9 million. This historic case was the first jury verdict finding the Ford Explorer to be defective in design for its rollover propensity. In Ekbatani v. Caltrans, et al., a dangerous roadway case, he won a jury verdict of $35 million. After the verdict, Caltrans installed safety measures that were recommended by Caltrans’ engineers over 12 years before Ekbatani’s accident. In Uno v. Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc., products liability case, the jury returned a $10 million verdict. In Thomas v. City of Fullerton, a police misconduct case involving a mentally ill homeless man who was brutally beaten to death by six Fullerton police officers, he resolved the case for $4.9 million.
