Aaron Block is Founder and Principal at Allumia a Seattle based Efficiency-as-a-Service provider actively funding energy efficiency projects in 20 states. Allumia’s take on Efficiency-as-a-Service involves funding, managing, maintaining and metering efficiency upgrades, freeing up building owners’ time and money to focus on doing whatever it is they do best. Aaron has been working in energy finance for 10 years with a particular focus on structuring financial transactions that are metered, transparent, and simple to understand for building owners and operators whose main focus is –almost universally -something other than energy. Aaron started his career researching the utility/consumer intersections of Smart Grid technology at GridPoint, before co-founding Skyline Innovations/Nextility, an early ‘solar-as-a-service’ provider, which serviced the multi-family residential and to mid-sized commercial marketplaces. During his time at Skyline, Aaron worked both on designing win-win-win financial structures, as well as business development, which put him directly in touch with the real-world concerns of building owners. Aaron also worked in corporate strategy and financial structuring for energy-focused venture capital investor/mezzanine debt provider, Blue Hill Partners.
