Michelle Williams Court is the Supervising Judge of the Civil Division of Los Angeles Superior Court. She has presided over general jurisdiction civil cases since 2015 and also served in the Family Law Division. She serves on the California Supreme Court Committee on Judicial Ethics Opinions, is an member of the American Law Institute and a participant in its Members Consultative Groups for Restatement of the Law, Constitutional Torts; Principles for a Data Economy; and Restatement of the Law, Children and the Law. She is a Life Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and a Founding Member of the Association of African American California Judicial Officers. Judge Court is Chair of the Court’s Technology Committee and has served on many other court committees including as Chair of the Bench – Bar Committee and as a member of the Civil and Small Claims Committee, the Crossover subcommittee of the Operational Planning Committee, and the governing committee of the Judicial Education Committee. Judge Court is a graduate of Pomona College and Loyola Law School.
