Rocky Mountain Institute
Matt Jungclaus is a Manager and professional engineer with RMI’s buildings program. He works on the Pathways to Zero Initiative, which focuses on driving the adoption of grid-integrated and net-zero energy buildings. Matt proves the technical and business case for these strategies at scale through client-driven work for commercial developers, district developers, the federal government, and research labs. Matt's recent publications include The Carbon-Free City Handbook and The Carbon-Free Regions Handbook, a collection of specific policy recommendations geared to drive cities, states, and regions toward climate neutrality that can deliver results within a year. Matt’s past work at RMI includes developing and delivering innovative policies, grid-integrated buildings strategies, net-zero energy roadmaps, and integrative design workshops for federal and private sector clients. Prior to joining RMI, Matt worked for CEG Solutions, an energy services company in Virginia, which he served as a technical analyst and a project manager for building energy projects in the public and private sectors. Before working for CEG, Matt worked as a residential energy auditor for the Local Energy Alliance Program (LEAP) in Charlottesville, VA. Matt’s core competencies lie in building science (including energy auditing and modeling), mechanical engineering, and project management.
