Basim Abu-Hamid has served the role of public emergency service provider since he became an Emergency Medical Technician in 1985. After completing paramedic school, he worked as an advanced life support paramedic on a 911 ambulance for Santa Clara County in California. He still maintains his paramedic certification to this day. In 1992 Basim joined the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety where he worked for 12 years as a full time police officer/firefighter. The city of Sunnyvale provides both police and fire services and Basim was certified as a police officer and firefighter while also maintaining his paramedic certification. At Sunnyvale he worked specialty assignments which included Field Training Officer (FTO), Hostage Negotiator and Gang Task Force in the Patrol Division and Aerial Truck Operator/Firefighter/Engineer and EMS instructor in the Fire Division. After 9/11, Basim worked overseas in various D.O.D. Counter-Terrorism assignments and also as a Team Leader in Kidnap/Ransom Consulting and Executive and VIP protection. Upon his return to the U.S. he began work as a Security Consultant in the Bay Area providing Executive Protection both locally and globally to Fortune 100 executives and government dignitaries. He continues to train Executive Protection and Law Enforcement personnel for both the public and private sector. Basim is fluent in Arabic and Spanish. He is a native Arabic speaker and has been trained to an intermediate level (Berlitz level 4) in Spanish. He has lived and worked abroad in the Middle East and Western Europe utilizing his language skills both socially and professionally.
