Joe brings over 30 years of experience in the US power industry with experience across generation asset classes, including onshore and off shore wind, solar, batteries, coal-fired, nuclear, hydro and gas-fired generation Starting in the late 1990s, Joe led regulatory, policy and government affairs efforts for several IPPs, including NRG Energy and FPLE. In this capacity Joe led initiatives to establish wholesale electricity markets and ISOs/RTOs across the United States. Joe transitioned to renewable generation development in 2006, and led development, M&A and finance initiatives resulting in $3Bn of operational wind, solar and battery storage projects. In 2014, Joe co-founded SolarStone, a Minneapolis based community solar development, ownership and operations company that has developed approximately 15% of the community solar projects currently operating in Minnesota. Joe has been involved with the SOO Green Renewable Rail project since 2012, and currently serves as President of Direct Connect Development Company, its development partner. Joe holds a BSEE in electrical and power systems engineering from Worcester Polytechnic (WPI): Joe also has taken Advanced Power System Engineering from PTI, and management training from Cornell University. Joe sits on the boards of several non-profits, including Fresh Energy, based in St Paul, MN.
