Daran Rife is Global Head of Mesoscale Modeling at DNV GL. With over 24 years of extensive experience, he maintains expertise in numerical weather and climate prediction, mesoscale meteorology, Monte-Carlo-based methods, atmospheric reanalysis, wind energy, boundary layer meteorology, statistical methods & machine learning. Daran is an internationally recognized scientist, whose research and technical development efforts have led to 20 articles in highly ranked peer-reviewed scholarly publications. During his tenure at DNV GL, he has led the development of DNV GL’s market leading mesoscale modeling system, any many solutions to better understand the impacts of weather and climate on wind and solar energy production. Prior to that he was a Project Scientist at the U.S. National Center for Atmospheric Research from 1999-2012. He was Associate Editor for the scholarly journal Weather and Forecasting from 2009-2014.
