Chris Whitney, CPA

INTRUST Bank Arena / SMG


Chris Whitney is the Assistant General Manager / Director of Finance for INTRUST Bank Arena and The Orpheum Theatre, both SMG Managed Facilities. She is responsible for all of the financial and accounting aspects of the arena and theatre as well as event settlements with show promoters. Additionally, Chris oversees the Ticketing and Human Resources departments and assists in the operation and management of the facility. She leads several committees focusing on improving the guest experience at INTRUST Bank Arena. Prior to joining SMG in May, 2009 she was an Audit Manager with Ernst & Young, LLP. Additionally, giving back to her community and the industry is a priority. She is a Past-President for East Wichita Rotary, participates on the Operations Committee for Life Church – Wichita and serves as a mentor for the Young Professionals of Wichita Group Mentoring Program. Chris is also active in the industry as an IAVM member, she is a 2012 graduate of Venue Management School and became and instructor in 2015. Having completed her 4th year as a VMS instructor, Chris is also serving on the VMS Board of Regents. Further, Chris serves on the IAVM Arenas committee. Chris is a certified public accountant (CPA) in the State of Kansas and holds a Bachelors Degree in Marketing and Management from Kansas State University and a Bachelors Degree in Accounting from Wichita State University. Away from work, you will find Chris at the lake, cheering on the Kansas State Wildcats, going to concerts, and traveling. In her down time, she enjoys running, reading, and listening to music.
