Tom Beck is a senior director for the controls & network security fleet team, in the power generation division of NextEra Energy, Inc. He is accountable for providing engineering and technical support for the instrumentation and control system assets for the company’s competitive generation subsidiary, NextEra Energy Resources, and its rate-regulated electric utilities, Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) and Gulf Power. Tom has held this position since February 2010. Tom joined FPL in 1990 as an instrumentation & controls project engineer at the Fort Myers power plant. He has helda variety of positions within engineering and power plant management, including production managerfor FPL’s Martin power plant , as well as general manager for the controls fleet team. Tom attended Florida State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He also holds a Six Sigma Black Belt certification. He is a Florida native, and currently lives in Martin County with his wifeShelley, and their two sons, Scott and John.
