Simon Redfern is a Director at RCG with over 30 years’ experience of building large offshore wind projects, subsea cable, and oil and gas projects. He has experience of equity sales, project financing and asset disposals, together with management of a large renewable energy asset portfolio at a senior level. Mr Redfern has a proven track record of managing large, complex infrastructure projects across a range of industry sectors. In offshore wind, he is expert in managing large, multi-disciplinary, geographically diverse teams across the full asset lifecycle – development, construction and operations, including project financing and equity sale processes. Mr Redfern has deep commercial and technical senior level experience across the full asset lifecycle of offshore wind projects from project development through construction into operations and maintenance. At a top 30 FTSE 100 UK utility he was part of the team that developed, constructed and operated many of the UK’s offshore wind farms. He led on the technical aspects of some of the first project finance deals in the UK offshore wind sector. He was a joint venture board director on several development, in-construction, and operating assets in partnership with other leading offshore wind players and was the chairman of a large UK offshore wind JV for several years, taking the project-financed scheme from the construction phase into full operation. Since joining RCG, Mr Redfern has managed the procurement of a new energy solution for a major UK investor-owned utility. Mr Redfern is qualified in nautical studies – navigation, hydrography, meteorology, oceanography and naval architecture. He is also a qualified project manager.
