Neil Mello is Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor for Offshore Wind Development for New Bedford Mayor Jon Mitchell. Having served in federal, state, and local government in a range of policy-making roles, Mello has broad experience in economic development, energy, infrastructure, communications, and public finance. Mello provides general oversight to municipal operations, serves as the Mayor’s principal advisor, and oversees the operations of the Office of the Mayor. He has responsibility for coordinating senior managers across the municipality, including the Port of New Bedford, the nation’s top commercial fishing port and an emerging center of offshore wind energy. Mello has advanced several mayoral initiatives, including the City’s efforts to establish New Bedford as a national leader in both solar power and offshore wind energy. He is a graduate of Harvard College.
