Vicky Sullivan is director, federal environmental and energy policy at Duke Energy. Her responsibilities include directing the company’s corporate policy and strategy for climate change, and communicating its positions to policymakers. Previously, she was associate vice president for policy development at a trade association in Washington, DC, and spent many years at Southern Company, both in Birmingham, Alabama and Washington, DC. At Southern Company, she held positions of increasing responsibility, including managing the company’s climate strategy and its participation in air quality-related environmental issues, as well as managing economic analyses for fuel procurement. Vicky has been appointed by the EPA Administrator to the Agency’s Clean Air Act Advisory Committee, and is currently co-chair of the Edison Electric Institute’s Air Quality Subcommittee. Previously, she was appointed by the Secretary of Energy to the National Coal Council and was an adviser to the Electric Power Research Institute. Vicky received a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from Auburn University, an M.S. in environmental management from Samford University (Birmingham, Alabama), where she also taught environmental risk analysis, and has done postgraduate work in business administration at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
