Dr. Quiroz is a Principal Engineer with MWH, now part of Stantec, in the WaterPower and Dams Business Line within the company’s Energy & Resources Operating Unit and is based in Chicago. He has 20 years of experience as a project and design engineer on numerous projects involving feasibility studies, analysis, design, preparation of construction drawings, review of contractor design and submittals. These projects have included hydroelectric power plants, spillways, dams, navigation locks, pumping stations, major underground facilities, retaining structures, water and wastewater conveyance systems, penstocks, tunnels and shafts. Dr. Quiroz has Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Civil Engineering from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, and a Ph.D. from the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT). He is currently the structural group lead for the WaterPower and Dams group in Chicago and an adjunct professor at IIT. He is a registered professional engineer in the state of California, has authored technical papers, and is active in the United States Society of Dams (USSD).
