WERNER COOMANS (werner.coomans@nokia-bell-labs.com) heads the Copper Access Department within the Access Lab of Nokia Bell Labs, focusing on next-generation gigabit access technologies leveraging legacy copper infrastructure. He actively contributes to several standardization bodies, such as ITU-T and CableLabs, and was the recipient of the Bell Labs Outstanding Results Award (2018) and a PhD fellowship of the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO, 2009) . He joined Bell Labs in 2013, after obtaining an M.Sc. in electrical engineering (2009) and a Ph.D. in engineering sciences (2013).
