Andy's emphasis on the planning and design of collegiate athletics facilities began in 1989 with the design of the Dal Ward Athletic Center at the University of Colorado. The building's lkandmark end-zone design has been referred to as "the shot heard round the world," forever changing the expectations for collegiate athletics facilities. He became a partner in Sink Combs Dethlefs in 1993, building his emphasis on sports facility design for the next 25 years. Since the 2017 merger of Sink Combs Dethlefs with Perkins+Will, Andy has continued to lead his clients through thoughtful and engaging design processes, setting new directions for athletics facilities that will allow student-athletes to perform at their highest levels, generate revenues through innovative fan experiences, and stand the test of time through adaptable design strategies.
