Andy Banse is the Assistant AD for Athletics Compliance at Penn State. With nearly 10 years of experience spanning three Universities, Banse is responsible for assisting with the management of all facets of the Athletics Compliance program that serves 31 teams and approximately 800 student-athletes. Banse joined the Penn State staff as Director of Athletics Compliance in 2012 after a brief coaching stint with the Penn State Track and Field team, coaching a school record holder and Olympic Trials finalist. Prior to Penn State, Banse served as an Associate Director of Compliance at The University of Iowa from 2007 to 2010 and also Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance at Stetson University from 2006 to 2007. A National Association of Athletics Compliance (NAAC) Education Certified professional, Banse currently serves on the on its Reasonable Standard Committee. Banse earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Education from The University of Iowa in 2004, and went on to complete his Master’s Degree in Health and Sport Studies from The University of Iowa in 2006. While attending Iowa, he was a member of the track and field team and was named to the Big Ten All-Academic Team from 2003 to 2005. During the 2005 season, Banse earned Academic All-American Honors, National Strength and Conditioning Association All-American Honors, and the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award.
