Curtis Carver is vice president for information technology and chief information officer at The University of Alabama at Birmingham. His team is focused on innovation, agility and cost efficiency. Since joining UAB in 2015, Carver has led a multitude of successful initiatives, including unlimited email, unlimited storage, greatly enhanced connectivity, a tenfold increase in high-performance research computing, and a new strategic plan that creates a world-class IT organization that empowers a world-class research university. He has held key leadership positions at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science. He received a master’s degree and a doctorate in computer science from Texas A&M University. He continues to be engaged in the active leadership of military, academic, research and service organizations.
