Amit Garg is currently the Managing Director of K-RIDE, a JV company of the federal and the state governments in India, with the mandate of constructing and operating the ambitious suburban railway system in the city of Bangalore in the state of Karnataka, India. The USD 2.6 billion project comprises of laying 150 km of two dedicated electrified tracks parallel to the existing railway tracks and construction of 60 train stations to operate a new suburban railway system. Amit Garg, a rail professional with 30 years of experience, holds two Masters degrees, the latter from the University of Urbana Champaign, USA in High Speed Railway systems. He is currently pursuing PhD in Infrastructure Management with focus on risk management in High Speed Railway Systems in India. In his previous posting as Executive Director/ Environment at the headquarters of the Ministry of Railways in India, he authored the “General Conditions of Contract for Services” which forms the backbone of all service contracts of Indian Railways. He has attended many training programs in countries like Japan, Sweden, China, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia and USA.
