Becky Mackelprang earned her PhD in Plant Biology from UC Berkeley in 2017. She worked in the lab of Dr. Mary Wildermuth studying the genes and plant hormones that are activated when plants interact with pathogens. As a graduate student, Becky was an active volunteer in Berkeley's CLEAR Project. CLEAR stands for Communication, Literacy & Education for Agricultural Research. The group, led by Dr. Peggy Lemaux, encourages young scientists to communicate with the public about science. Becky now focuses all of her efforts on science communication as a postdoctoral scholar for The CLEAR Project.
