Dr. Grimit currently serves as Head of Science in the US for Vaisala's Digital businesses and has 14 years of experience in the renewable energy sector. He is an internationally recognized expert on wind and solar power forecasting, numerical weather prediction, and communication of forecast uncertainty. During his tenure at Vaisala and 3TIER, he worked to prototype and implement new capabilities for improved wind and solar power forecasting accuracy at all time scales. He has served as the technical lead on numerous projects to develop innovative solutions that increase forecasting accuracy and has worked closely with software engineers to deliver that information through scalable products and services to customers. Dr. Grimit has experience as a meteorologist, with a B.S. degree in Meteorology from the University of Utah, and with M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Atmospheric Sciences from the University of Washington.
