John Gammons is presently the Director of WiFi Engineering and T3 Operations at Cox Communications, where he has been for the past 7 years. During this time his team has launched and evolved their Wi-Fi platform and offerings for Cox Business and Residential customers. His experience includes 15 years of wireless operator experience which has included providing Wi-Fi and WiMax services as part of the Rural Broadband Initiative in the US, delivering Wi-Fi, DOCSIS and Voice services in the Dominican Republic and parts of Africa, working with the City of Houston and the Houston Public Library to leverage Wi-Fi to bridge the digital divide, launching municipal wireless networks in Philadelphia, Milpitas, New Orleans and Corpus Christi at EarthLink, and launching one of the first 802.11 mesh municipal Wi-Fi networks and a county-wide fixed wireless T1 alternative service in 2004 in Chaska, MN to empower their businesses with affordable internet services.
