Dai Owen serves as VP, Power Marketing at EDF Renewable Energy. In this position he is the senior member responsible for leading the negotiation of various transactions such as power purchase agreements, CFDs, long-term hedges, project or portfolio purchase agreements, and other related transactions. Mr. Owen joined EDF Renewable Energy in 2008 as a solar developer before transitioning to the Valuation and Transactions team in January of 2010. During his tenure with EDF-RE, Mr. Owen has led the successful negotiation of over 1600 MW of offtake agreements, and 1700 MW of project acquisitions, resulting in over 3.1 GW of projects constructed by EDF-RE. Mr. Owen has had the pleasure of working with a diversity of offtakers including utililty, community-choice, municipal, commercial & industrial clients and banks, as well as a variety of contract structures, including physical and financial, busbar and hub-settled, PPAs, VPPAs, REC + index, and hedges. His experience spans the full spectrum of renewable technologies in which EDF-RE is active including on-shore & off-shore wind, solar, and energy storage and across many North American electricity markets including CAISO, ERCOT, NW, SPP, PJM, MISO, NYISO, Alberta and Mexico. Dai holds a BA in chemistry from Carleton College and enjoys exploring the mountains of California with his wife and 10-year-old daughter.
