Eden Prairie Fire DepartmentiWomen

KIMBERLY COX began her career in the fire service in 2000, when she was hired as the administrative assistant for the Eden Prairie (MN) Fire Department, an all-volunteer department. Within a few years, the department hired its first full-time chief, and the department transitioned to a combination department. In 2002, she became the first full-time firefighter for the department. She is a Firefighter II, EMT, and hazmat technician, and has Blue Card and FAO certification. She has an associate degree in fire science and is in her senior year of study for a bachelor's degree in fire and emergency services. She is a founder and president of the North Star Women’s Firefighter Association and the executive director of the Board for the International Association of Women in Fire & Emergency Services. In addition, I am the team captain for my Department’s Relay for Life Team which raises money annually for the American Cancer Society. Each year, we host a Golf Tournament and 5K Fun Run that raise $20,000 - $25,000 annually. My family life is filled with love and support from my husband, twenty year-old son, and six year-old daughter as well as our black lab Guinness. Together, we enjoy being outside, being on the lake, cooking, and hanging out with our neighbors.
