Carol Rees Parrish, MS, RDN, has 40 years of clinical experience; the past 30 of which have been spent specializing in nutrition support and GI disorders at the University of Virginia Health System (UVAHS) Digestive Health Center. Carol founded the Medicine Nutrition Support Team in 1991, developed the GI Nutrition Clinic, and is the co-founder of the UVAHS GI and Nutrition Support Training and Webinar educational programs. Carol also started and ran the UVA celiac support group spanning 12 years. As the nutrition series editor for the journal Practical Gastroenterology, she has publishing over 200 GI and nutrition support articles since taking the position in 2003. She has numerous abstracts, publications, book chapters, and given well over 300 GI & nutrition support presentations at the local, state, regional, national, and international level. Carol’s passion in GI and nutrition support includes taking care of patients with short bowel syndrome and other malabsorptive disorders, high output ileostomies, enteral and parenteral nutrition support, pancreatitis, gastroparesis, and many others.
