Bea Carson
Gaming Commission Chairwoman
MBCI-CHOCTAW GAMING COMMISSION
Ms. Bea Carson is a member of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians. For the past 8 years, Ms. Carson has served as Chair of the Choctaw Gaming Commission. During 2001-2009, she served as an Associate Gaming Commissioner, so she has over 15 years' professional experience in Choctaw gaming. Ms. Carson, working with then Tribal Chief Phyllis J. Anderson, helped lead the Tribe's commencement of Sports Betting at Pearl River Resort, bringing the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians to the front as the first tribe to begin Sports Betting. Ms. Carson has been employed with her tribe for over 35 years and has gained valuable knowledge and experience in oversight and management of 8A Tribal enterprises, procurement, tax commission operations, grants compliance, WIC health services administration, and nutrition and dietary services. Ms. Carson has earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition from the Mississippi University for Women, Columbus, MS, and has pursued further graduate studies and professional interests at Mississippi State University and the University of Phoenix. Bea Carson is a wife of 46 years. She and her husband have 2 daughters, 14 grandchildren, and 2 great-granddaughters. Ms. Carson's favorite inspiration quote is "Be at Peace." She joins us today from her beautiful and pastoral home community, Choctaw, Mississippi, the original homeland of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, and the site of Pearl River Resort, where Sports Betting in Indian Country first began in September 2018.
