Stafford Bandlow Engineering, Inc. (SBE) is a professional consulting and design firm specializing in electro-mechanical and electro-hydraulic systems for movable bridges.
Our experience encompasses all types and vintages of movable bridges including bascule (trunnion and scherzer), swing (center bearing and rim bearing), vertical lift (span drive and tower drive), and specialty bridges (floating, Strauss, Brown, etc).
We are knowledgeable in the governing AREMA and CHBDC standards and expert in railway safety work requirements, having provided engineering services to seven independent railroads.
We are active, contributing members of AREMA Committee #'s 10 & 15 -- finding practical solutions to real problems while maintaining the integrity and safety of all equipment in our charge.
SBE in-house, full-time staff have experience on hundreds of movable bridges located throughout the U.S. and Canada, holding P.E. or equivalent licensure in those states and provinces.
