The Coalition for Modernizing Dental Licensure is made up of organizations and agencies whose mission is to ensure patient safety, increase access to care, and promote professional mobility by modernizing the dental licensure process. Launched in October of 2018 by the American Dental Education Association (ADEA), the American Dental Association (ADA), and the American Student Dental Association (ASDA), the Coalition has grown to include over 50 organizations representing dental schools, state dental associations, specialty dental associations, and non-profit organizations. The two goals of the Coalition are elimination of the single encounter, procedure-based examinations on patients for licensure and the achievement of portability of dental licensure among all licensing jurisdictions in the United States for the benefit of the public and the profession.
