In its original incarnation, Qualitec Distributors began as Quadalta Distributors in 1980, in the City of Lethbridge. Its founder, Arie Schalk, was an experienced heating contractor who brought his knowledge and passion for infrared heating to Alberta through his company. Getting involved in community trade shows, receiving supportive testimonials from satisfied customers, and maintaining a committed marketing effort led to the quick expansion of the company into northern Alberta. This culminated in the opening of Edmonton’s branch in 1986, and Calgary’s branch in 1989.
While infrared heating has always been the focus of the business, other high-quality HVAC products have gradually been added to more fully address the growing needs of our customers. In 1995, Qualitec began supplying products from an upstart Canadian manufacturer of infrared systems: Superior Radiant Products (SRP). Implementing sound science, engineering and manufacturing principles to develop patented and innovative gas-fired low- and high-intensity infrared heaters, SRP became a global industry leader in energy efficient infrared heating solutions. Qualitec has been a proud supplier of these products for over 20 years.
Today, Qualitec operates out of two well-stocked branches in Edmonton (head office) and Calgary. We offer a range of HVAC products bridging industrial, commercial, agricultural, hospitality, residential and sporting applications. Our philosophy and vision are the same today as they were in the beginning, more than 30 years ago: to remain at the forefront of our industry by maintaining a commitment to the highest quality in the products we supply, the advice we offer, and the service we provide to our customers.
