J.T. Thorpe & Son, Inc.'s capabilities include engineering, design, project management, material selection, scheduling, procuring, and installing refractory linings.
We have a great deal of experience in the refractory industry, having performed work in all fields including power, cement, minerals, refining, steel, aluminum, copper and chemical to name a few. We have completed a number of new installation projects, and currently dominate all major and minor maintenance turnaround work on the West Coast and the Rocky Mountain regions.
JTT was founded in San Francisco, California to help rebuild boilers damaged during the Great Quake of 1906. Since that time we have been in the business of designing and constructing refractory, fireproofing and acid resistant linings in all industries. In 1991 we purchased the assets of a related company in the Los Angeles area and thus became a two (2) branch company. In 1993 we opened offices in Tucson, Arizona and Salt Lake City, Utah to increase our ability to react quickly to our customers needs in those geographic areas. In 2004, we opened an office in Maysville, Kentucky. In 2008, we opened an office in St. Louis, Missouri and in 2013, we opened offices in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Chicago, Illinois. JTT is now the largest industrial refractory contractor in the United States.
