MicroGen Systems, Inc. headquartered near Rochester, NY has developed a suite of products based on its proprietary piezoelectric MicroElectroMechanical Systems (piezo-MEMS) platform technology, including energy harvesting and sensing solutions. The company’s first product line consists of various piezoelectric vibrational energy harvesters (pVEH). These innovative, low cost, long lifetime (>20 years) small devices scavenge environmental mechanical energy and convert it to usable electricity. The intent is to replace or extend the lifetime of batteries used in wireless sensor applications. Hence, there is no need for expensive electrical wiring or labor continuously changing batteries.
