The beloved New England brand, based in Salem, Massachusetts in its original red brick building, hand dips, molds and ships its all natural gourmet chocolates all over the world. Harbor Sweets began in 1973 as a basement hobby and a quest to make the world’s best one-of-a-kind chocolates. The company has since become one of New England’s most celebrated and thriving chocolate companies, with products sold coast to coast and shipped worldwide.
Harbor Sweets offers an extensive line of handmade chocolates that include the boxed Classics with original nautical designs of sand dollars, seashells, and schooners. Its Dark Horse Chocolates celebrate equestrianism and Perennial Sweets appeals to seaside gardeners. Harbor Sweets’ flagship and best-selling chocolates are Sweet Sloops®. They are almond butter crunch sailboats with a jib of white chocolate floating in dark chocolate and pecan. More than 2 million Sweet Sloops are made each year. In 2016, it will launch Gather, a flight of six distinct taste experiences unified by dark chocolate and a subtle note of local wildflower honey. Gather supports a cause critical to the environment: protecting honeybees and a portion of sales will be donated to the Pollinator Partnership, a 501c3 NGO that educates and advocates best beekeeping practices for honeybee protection.
