Fran Bigelow has been sharing her passion for fine chocolate since opening her first Seattle store in 1982. Recognized as “Outstanding Fine Chocolatier, North America,” Fran is considered a pioneer of the artisan chocolate movement and is renowned for creating beautiful hand crafted chocolate confections that boast local and organic ingredients, seductive textures, and a layering of flavors that can only be described as exquisite. While the family business has expanded over three decades, Fran’s standards remain un-compromised. Their ever-popular Gold Bars, irresistible chocolate thins, delightfully rich sauces, and celebrated salted caramels are made daily by hand with meticulous care and skill, near downtown Seattle. For Fran’s handcrafted caramels, she gently cooks small batches of organic sugar, cream and butter to reveal a velvety texture and a smooth, decadent flavor. The caramels are then dipped in 64% dark or 38% milk chocolate and sprinkled with gray or smoked sea salt. The result is distinctive, delicious satisfaction in every bite. Fran’s has been honored with 12 NASFT Gold and Silver Awards including; Gold for its Gray and Smoked Salt Caramels and Dark Hot Chocolate, and Silver for its Almond GoldBites, Almond and Macadamia Gold Bars, Caramel Sauce, and Raspberry Sauce. Fran’s has also been featured in select periodicals such as The
