Sri Lanka Tea Board is the apex authority for regulating the activities of the Sri Lanka tea industry. All the development and regulatory functions governed by Tea commissioners division and Tea promotion in overseas and local done by Tea promotion division.For overseas promotion, Russia, UAE and China offices play major role as strong Ceylon Tea market. Sri Lanka Tea Board contains two units especially established for important technical functions; Tea Tasting Unit and Analytical laboratory for testing and issuing of quality certificates for tea. Tea tasting unit with a team of veteran tea tasters of multidiscipline is equipped with all facilities required for tea tasting and the Analytical Laboratory possesses modern instruments for carrying out Chemical, Microbiological and Pesticide analysis. The Sri Lanka Tea Board is well planned on monitoring of quality standards of tea at the field level, point of sale, blenders and exporters, and providing advisory services on hygienic blending and storing. Additionally, it regulates controls and directs all institutions and organizations engaged in the management of tea estates and in the production and marketing of tea. Policies are initiated in compatibility with industry requirements to align the current laws and regulations to fulfill the global needs.
