In 2006, Whitford purchased Alpha Coatings, a manufacturer and applicator of low-friction coatings that improve the performance of flexible substrates. Alpha applies these coatings to rubber and plastic sealing systems to solve problems of abrasion, weathering, “itch and squeak” noise, reduced friction, installation/assembly-aid, appearance, chemical resistance, release, lubrication, etc. Alpha formulates its own line of coatings, Resilon®, that allow for improved processing and outstanding performance over rubber and plastic substrates.
