Represents and promotes the Comté Appellation of Origin in the U.S. Comté is an artisanal, cave-aged cheese made exclusively in the Jura Mountains of France, with distinctive flavors, characteristics, and centuries-old traditions. Only raw milk from Montbéliarde cows is used; GMO's, additives and colorants are prohibited. Can be enjoyed on its own, as well as in many dishes including salads, grilled cheese sandwiches, gratins, soufflés, polenta, fondue, etc. The AOC (Appellation d'Origine Controlée) & PDO seals are prominently displayed to guarantee the origin of the cheese and the traditional production methods. The Comté Cheese Association works closely at the trade, press and consumer levels by supplying POS materials and background information and by participating in seminars and food/wine events. The organization also invites journalists to the Comté area to build greater awareness of the cheese and the region among the general public.
