Columbia Cheese has imported cheese since the 1940s. We work directly with producers and affineurs in Switzerland, Italy, Denmark, Germany and Austria, finding best-in-class cheeses to represent the great heritage and traditions of cheesemaking. From Switzerland our partnership with Fromage Gruyere SA, renowned Gruyere affineur in Bulle, now proudly presents 1655 Gruyere, a meticulously graded and well aged Gruyere for the U.S. Local village cheesemakers trained in traditional methods now produce their own original recipes and we are thrilled to expand people’s horizons with amazing new European cheeses including Chällerhocker, Alp Blossom, Viamala, Chiriboga Blue, Heublumen, Adelegger, Hubaner, Wrångäback and Mycella. In northern Italy, the Ciresa family has worked with cheese since 1927. Now in their third generation, Ciresa has perfected Taleggio and Gorgonzola as well as aging from local producers in the Valsassina Valley. Together all our cheeses allow a range of textures, cultures and authentic flavors to create an exciting well rounded selection for all cheese enthusiasts.
