Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA)

Booth 15

Ft Belvoir, VA
      United States

The Defense Threat Reduction Agency is a Combat Support Agency and Defense Agency that enables DoD and the U.S. Government to prepare for and combat weapons of mass destruction and improvised threats and to ensure nuclear deterrence. We maintain unique relationships across the DoD and are a one-stop shop that functional and regional commands from around the world can rely on for expertise, equipment, training, planning and analysis. DTRA as we know it today, was established in 1998 to provide the Department of Defense's core intellectual, technical, and operational support expertise for countering threats posed by WMD (Chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear) and high-yield explosives. In 2016 the Joint Improvised-Threat Defeat Agency (JIDA) was absorbed into DTRA and JIDA was renamed as the Joint Improvised-Threat Defeat Organization (JIDO). Today, the boundaries that traditionally separated WMD from other threats have become increasingly blurred. JIDO provides DTRA with expertise on countering improvised-threats (e.g. improvised explosive devices, homemade explosives, commercial grade explosives, sUAS, etc). As a result, DTRA is prepared to address the most consequential threats to our national objectives.
