COUTURE 2019

Page Sargisson

Booth 128

Brooklyn, NY
      United States

Ever curious about the world around her, Page Sargisson seeks out objects whose texture, shape and history inspire her.  With her ability to see beauty where others might not, Page repurposes and transforms these found objects into uniquely textured, handcrafted jewelry, and in doing so, helps bring out the artist in those who wear these special creations.

I grew up working in my grandfather’s carpentry studio and learned to carve, sand and make dovetail joints with him – after graduating from Brown and working a corporate job, I took a wax carving class that brought me back to my childhood passion.  Fifteen years later, I am selling at small boutiques around the world and Barney’s and Isetan in Tokyo.  I design jewelry for people like me, jewelry that can transition from dropping off the kids at school in the morning to work and dinner out at night.

My pieces are all handmade here in NYC using recycled metals.  I have a very distinct look since I transfer textures from old letterpress blocks, textiles and woodblocks – this seems to attract a clientele who like to “collect” my pieces.

In a world where so much is mass produced and 3D printed, the "brushstrokes" of my carvings allow the end customer to connect to the artist and imagine the work that went into creating each piece.
