General Motors employs over 176k employees across six continents and 23 time zones, speaking 65 different languages. They had more than 60 various recognition programs globally and new programs being developed without governance; making employee recognition a challenge. Understanding that recognition is a key driver for employee engagement and critical to drive cultural change, GM sought to break down silos and deliver a consistent experience globally. At the same time, GM wanted to accelerate cultural change, increase employee recognition to impact engagement, and consolidate various recognition programs into one.
