Hot legal issues affecting fire and EMS organizations daily are reviewed. The format is lecture and question-and-answer periods. Student participation is encouraged. Topics include the legal use of drones, guns, and bulletproof vests in firehouses and vehicles; social media rants, raves, and retaliation; FLSA requirements for volunteer departments; the use of 1583 medical examinations; federal law restrictions on background checks; digital imagery policies; and employee use of legalized marijuana.
