Memes are a pervasive, dynamic part of digital communication… and they can be a powerful instructional tool, engaging students through humor and relevance. Through meme-creation activities, memes can empower students to share their own voices in class and in the digital world. This session features an award-winning educator who has used memes throughout her personal, professional, and educational lives. Hands-on activities help educators understand what memes are, why they are powerful tools for both teaching and learning, and how to make three forms of image- and GIF-based memes. Plus, attendees will receive access to resources and adaptable lesson ideas that make it possible for them to start applying their new knowledge about memes right away!
