Partnership Pitfalls: What to Look Out For When Working With Other Businesses

Whether it be with other DME suppliers, manufacturers, physician practices, marketing companies, or anything in between, there can be a lot of upside to collaborating with other businesses or providers. But the coin of collaboration has two sides, and it may not always be obvious. Working with other companies to unlock synergies or potential business growth can implicate a number of regulatory issues, such as HIPAA, fraud and abuse laws, and state licensure laws. These issues need not stand in the way of a productive partership, but they absolutely must be understood and accounted for when structuring an arrangement. This session will provide an overview and common types of collaborations along with the main regulatory issues they implicate.
