As an aging workforce begins to phase into retirement, many organizations are struggling to fill open positions with skilled workers as fewer individuals are entering the commercial property management, engineering, and maintenance space. This workforce development gap is forming on both ends of the pay scale: engineering and energy management type positions that typically require advanced training, and lower-skilled but equally as vital positions in construction, the trades and maintenance. This session will provide an industry perspective on the workforce challenge and highlight current initiatives designed to recruit and train professionals to work in the industry.
