Consumers and enterprise customers alike are demanding “always on” and “high performing” connectivity. Network use cases supporting low latency, increased bandwidth, and exponential device growth are already entering the market. Although expected 5G benefits are driving some of these network use cases, it will not be the only network required. MSOs must lead with intelligent connectivity across converged networks to support a wide range of use cases while continuing to lower cost/bit to win in tough competitive markets. MSOs are in a unique position to lead in this new era by leveraging a unique set of existing network assets combined with new extensions such as MVNO relationships and CBRS.
Imminent 5G deployments will transform mobile markets and represent an inflection point for all service providers. The open architecture of 5G and associated technologies such as edge computing, IoT, and shared spectrum also opens the door for MSOs to drive true network convergence with intelligent connectivity.
